Description

Century Armalite Mk3 Fishing Rod
If you’re into your specialist angling, or you’ve been a carp angler for many years, then you’ll probably already be well aware of the Armalite range from Century. One of the best selling and highest performing rod ranges of its time, the Armalite has just received a technological upgrade that once again catapults it head and shoulders above the rest. The Century Armalite Mk3 has been modelled on the original Ten Ton Armalite – a rod that got its name not from its own weight but from the impressive ten tons of carp (each averaging in their 30s) that was attributed to it in a single season from St Lawrence, USA!
This Armalite Mk3 boasts a similar performance but with significantly improved manufacture technology. Although the species you’ll be chasing won’t have evolved between the manufacture of the original and this latest incarnation that tactics that we use on the bank certainly have and this rod has been stepped up a gear in order to accommodate the latest tactics. Unlike the original Armalite rods, this Mk3 has autoclave curing on the carbon fibre blank. Autoclave is a patented technique used by Century that ensures that the test curve of the rod is maintained throughout its lifetime. If you’re looking for a rod that offers playability coupled with a parabolic curve then this is the ideal rod for you.
Despite the new technology at play n the blank Century has been careful to maintain the original ‘old school’ look of the rod. The Century Armalite Mk3 is fitted with a stainless steel ball rather than the now standard flat butt cap. The graphics on the rod are understated in the traditional manner that is so in vogue today and the rod has a spigot joint construction. It also features 30mm SiC ringing, which look tiny compared to today’s 50mm butt rings! This rod is purpose built for close quarters angling and fishing on smaller waters.
