This 12-foot GTD rod from Gardner is perfect for catching carp in a multitude of scenarios. The GTD is made from 36-ton Mitsubishi carbon fibre blanks that not only make this rod lighter but flexible, giving it an impressive test curve of 3lb 6Oz. This offers a crisp feel to the tod as the carbon blanks are incredibly responsive, maintaining the superb playing curve that is perfect for carping.
The GTD does more than cast, it feels right and balanced when you are playing fish to the net. The Distance rod provides a blank balance that ensures casting power with a precise feel. The 3K tweel finishes just above the overfit joint welds the parts if the rod securely so you can have confidence in the stronger more vigorous casts.
The low resin prepreg blanks provide a medium-fast action response through the rod and ensure you can control casts accurately with a range of weights, without any vagueness that can impair that exacting feel that may affect accuracy. The line is also made secure thanks to the super lightweight, yet strong, Minima with a conventional anti-frap tip ring to avoid nasty snares. This also allows a faster and more responsive tip action by keeping the tip weight to an absolute minimum.
The distance rod also makes attaching a reel easy with the tightening screw on the DPS reel seat. The machines reel seat is also made from 3k carbon fibre to keep with the lightness of the rest of the rod and matches the rest of the rods tweel finish. The rod also features a line friendly, low profile carbon line clip to whip the line into position to assist with bite indication.
This beautiful actioned Gardner rod has a full slimline EVA handle, to keep the rod light and also EVA is incredibly durable unlike cork so it is able to withstand the rigours of carp fishing. The handle also has a wide SS butt cap which makes it easier to place in rod pods and secures the rod when you are not holding it.
The exclusive 12ft blank is finished with a hi-gloss which helps protect all components and maintains its beautiful looks and performance. The GTD features a clutter-free, tidy build specification, offering a direct, responsive connection and feels superb when you’re playing a stubborn carp.
